What's up for March?

March is here - and with it comes the first show of the season!

It’s my favorite time of year - show season starts in less than two weeks!! We have our first show on the docket, some travel for another photographer, and a potential additional trip early this month. Here is what March looks like, in chronological order:

Early March (1st-12th):

There has been quite a bit of interest in EKP heading over to the Bellingham, Washington area to do some photography and videography work. As of now, there aren’t any specific dates booked, so there is still time to get in on it and book a session or two!

March 13th-15th: Colorpalooza

The show season kicks off with a really fun show put on in Salem, Oregon by the Southwest Washington Paint Horse Club. We already have some session interest, so don’t wait to get a hold of me if you are interested in a session while we are there!

We have an incredible line of new products for shows, such as show books, name prints, statuettes, and framing options. Come by our booth to check them all out, or to just say hi to Britt!

March 17th-30th: Out of town (plus my birthday!)

I have the incredible opportunity to travel to Texas to photograph for another prominent show photographer, so I will not have any availability in the last half of the month. I will be back and ready to go in April! My birthday is the 29th, so keep an eye out for a special sale on that day.

Wrapping it up: availability is quite limited, but we are insanely excited to jump back into shows in the PNW!

Cassidy + Mardee - A Little Mare with a Big Personality

During the 2019 portrait trip, my assistant and I had the privilege of meeting Mardee and her sweet mama, Cassidy.

Mardee is a tiny little Quarter Horse, who was pretty young at the time of the session. I’ve been around plenty of young horses, and I was extremely impressed with how quiet she was! We went way out into the property, and she didn’t bat an eye. Their bond was the sweetest connection I had experienced in a long time, and I hope you enjoy the results as much as I do!

Bella + Her Beautiful Rescues

Rescue is something that is close to my heart.

There is something about an animal that has been rescued from a terrible situation. It’s almost like they know that you care for them and that they will never have the hurt again in that way. It creates a bond between horse and human that is so special, and simply cannot be found in any other relationship.

This summer, I had the privilege of capturing the bonds that Bella has with several of her rescue horses in Everson, Washington. Each individual is in different stages of healing. Some are ready to live a normal horse life, others have special emotional, physical, or mental needs - for now, or for life. Bella cares for these animals wherever they are at. She respects their behavior, feelings, and concerns, and love them however she can. Please enjoy the pictures from our session - I think you will see the bond there too!

I hope you enjoyed seeing the love between Bella and her beauties. Much fun was had in our session!

August Unicorn Sessions!

Unicorn sessions are here!

A few days ago, I put out a post asking if anyone would be interested in unicorn sessions this summer. I received a very positive response! Many people were interested both in using their own horses, and using my hired horsey models. Therefore, below are the package offerings for unicorn sessions. Remember, they are only available for the month of August!

Fantasia Session

This is the perfect way to go all out with the magic of a fantasy session! There is no time limit - we will take all the time we need to create the perfect fairy tale.

• Unlimited session time

• Physical unicorn horn or one added in post processing

• Use of your own horse or one of my gentle, hired models

• Custom styling advice for both you and your horse

• Full fantasy editing (background replacement, wings, and other added magic) for three images of your choice

• Ten edited social media digitals of your choice

• A special gift from your session

Everything above is included in the session fee of $350

Magia Session

This session is more like a “mini session” and is great for those who want to do something quick and simple.

• Thirty minutes of session time

• Unicorn horn added in post processing or use a physical horn

• Use of your own horse, or hire one of my models for $45

• Custom styling advice for both you and your horse

• Full fantasy editing (background replacement, wings, and other added magic) for one image of your choice

• Five edited social media digitals of your choice

• A special gift from your session

Everything above is included in the session fee of $200

Finally Sharing: 2017 Workshop || Day Two

The second day of the workshop might have been my favorite. But it’s hard to choose…

The second day, we focused on breeding horses. We had two gorgeous stallions of different types, as well as a mare and her sweet foal. Check out the stunning results below!

Sorry (kinda) for the overshare, but this second day of the workshop was just fabulous! We had a great time learning about photographing stallions, mares ,and foals in their best light. Day three to come soon!

Finally Sharing: 2017 Workshop || Day One

I can’t believe I haven’t shared the workshop images all in once place!

Back in 2017, we had a wonderful workshop consisting of three days of gorgeous models and beautiful weather. I have shared many of the images, but just realized I never shared the whole thing on the blog! Doh!

Since there were three days, I am going to split them into three blog posts. The first day was at a beautiful local campsite that allows horses. We had two beautiful horse and rider pairs come out to demonstrate different aspects of modeling. We went over composition, posing, and even had an unplanned experience with the craziness of working with a young horse!

We had such a fabulous time, and the colors were just beautiful! I can’t wait to get together for more workshops in the future! Let me know if you would like to be a part in the future. <3

2018 Portrait Trip, Part Three // Pasco, WA

The beauty of the Arabian horse is unmatched.

As we rolled up to the barn at Sunhaven Sport Horses, several dished face peeked out at us from stall door and over fences. Tracy Oliver and her trainer Tony have an excellent group of pure and part-Arabian horses. I enjoyed every moment watching these horses move with such grace, and getting to know both Tracy and Tony and hear a bit about the amazing industry they are in as breeders. Here are some of the completed images from our session!

I hope you enjoyed taking a peek into these award-winning Arabians’ sessions. they were truly an exceptional group on equally beautiful property!
